1848 To July 13, 1905

Mary Frances McFarland was the only daughter of John Joseph McFarland and Desidara Metzger McFarland.  Mary was born in Pennsylvania, possibly Harrisburg.  In 1851, she and her parents came by ship, "Around the Horn" to Oregon.  They settled in Salem, where Mary attended and graduated from Willamette University.  She married Sylvester C. Simpson on October 11, 1866.  There first son, Earnest, was born September 7, 1867.  Mary died in San Francisco, California, on July 13, 1905.
