From Peter Hildebrand on June 23rd, 2005:

Hi there,

As many of you know, Nan got a new knee (the first of two) on Tuesday. I
guess for that sort of a thing, it went really well. So on one hand,
when the surgeon came to talk to me immediately after the operation, he
looked really pleased with what had just happened (i.e. with his
brilliant work.) And yes, it seems really good: he did a minimal
invasive proceedure that should significantly enhance recovery. But
then, when I was able to be with her a little later, Nan looked as if
she had been hit by a truck. She was feeling reallllly, reallllly,
reallllly so bad, that I was wishing I could just jump in there and do
something; exactly what, I of course haddn't a clue. But what pain!
Oooooh! Oooooh!

But she's tough.

Since then, during the past two days, it has been wonderful to watch her
quick recovery, and at the same time, discomforting to watch her holding
all that pain. But as she said, earlier today when I commented "you are
doing really well", she said, "I need to". And as usual, she's so right.

So now, only two days later, she is doing very well. She's been through
the "how to dress and undress drill" for people who can only reach a
little past the waist and cannot bend one (very much hurting) leg; she
has walked around a bit; and for the first time, all in all, she was
looking pretty good this evening.

She should be home soon.

Peter

On Monday, June 20th, Mom (Carol Healy) had her long awaited cataract surgery.  The procedure went very well.  The check up Tuesday confirmed that all had gone perfectly.  After recovering from the effects of the Valium that they give her prior to surgery, Mom was once again off at full tilt, spending today at the Shoreline Museum as she usually does on Wednesdays.

When I was down at the Simpson/Wilson family gathering at Asilomar I borrowed the BurnBrae log book from Elaine.  I scanned some of the more interesting pages.  Check out Mom's note on page 19 when Mom & Dad stayed at the Cottage for their honeymoon.

The Burnbrae Log is on two pages, with the first web page covering pages 1 through 10, and the second web page covering pages 11 through 19. For those not familiar with "Burnbrae" , it is the name of the cottage at the far end of Cascade Drive in Mill Valley that was originally built by Sylvester and Mary Simpson.  The name "Burnbrae comes from the works of the Scottish poet, Robert Burns.

From Kirk Beedle on May 31st, 2005:

Over the Memorial weekend Alec, Garrett and I went camping in the Sierra foothills. We camped at the Indian Grinding Rock Historical State Park. It is the adjacent to where the Miwoks lived for 2000-3000 years until the 1850's and gold rush. There is a round house and several huts that are still used several times a year for events. The most interesting thing was the grinding rock that is marbleized limestone that has 1,185 mortar holes from acorn being ground over those thousands of years. There are also 383 petroglyphs dating back the same.

In the fall is a very large gathering called 'Big Time'. As outsiders we'll be allowed to view some of the rituals, games and sample native foods. I want the boys to observe this as it is a way of life that has existed for thousands of years. There also is a very nice museum dedicated to the Miwoks and their way of life.

Along with that we toured the Black Chasm cave in Volcano and the Sutter Gold Mine just north of Sutter's Creek. In the gold mine we were 550 ft underground.

Fun stuff for the weekend!

Cheers

Kirk

We just saw Oklahoma at the Mountain Play today and I shot a few clips so here is a

Oh, and I included a few stills too.  (Here are the stills)

While we were on the road, I received the following email from Ric Costales:

My name is Ric Costales and I found your website by doing a google
search on "Ben Simpson Oregon."  My great-great grandfather was JT Simpson who was Ben
Simpson's son by his first wife, Elzira.

JT was also on the wagon train to Oregon with Barnett, whose recollections are on your website.  I have a copy of the original of JT's reminiscences of that trip (I don't know when he wrote them).  They match well with Barnett's as well as add some other interesting details.

I can send you JPEG images of his recollections (2 megabytes). As well,
I can scan and send some other Simpson family photos (William and Mary
Simpson, Nancy Cerilda Cooper among them).

The way I go back to William Simpson is:

From Don and Liz Healy on May 24th, 2005:

Hello all.  Liz and I just returned from a wonderful two month wander around the southern part of Arizona and back up through Utah and Idaho.  The Southwest certainly has the most interesting and varied geology and we fully enjoyed the wide variety of formations that the area offered.  Additionally,  we saw almost 100 new species of birds; new to us that is.

Many thanks to Teresa for tending to the website in our absence.

From Emily Levesque April 20, 2005:

Good morning family,

A quick Hildebrand-Levesque family update:

We are all well. Mitch defends his dissertation and will become Dr. Levesque this Friday!  He graduates in the middle of May.  We will all be happy to say the least.  I am working on paintings which I think are compelling but I have little time to actually finish the work since being a Mom is also compelling.  So, I am trying to finish up all of the sketches so I can bring them long with us to Germany where I can finish the larger paintings.  Germany.... Yes, we are moving to Tubingen, Germany this coming July.  It is a town on the French, German border in the black forest.  Clearly you are all welcome to visit. Please do! We will be there for about 4 years while Mitch does his post doc at the Max Plank Inst. with Nobel Laureate, Yanni Nusline Volhardt (I think I got the spelling right on that).  So, that is all pretty exciting.  We found that Aer Lingus has inexpensive tickets so we are planning on heading back as often as possible. The current Leo news is that he has learned how to climb onto chairs and then on to desks and counters and throw everything off the top, he is learning to talk (he now says, mama, dada, dog, and teeth (yes teeth), makes vroom sounds while driving around play cars, and he laughs and laughs as he chases the dog around the house.

I better get off so I can chase him around the house....

I hope that you all are well.

We send much love,

Emily

Dick's previously mentioned extended return to the hospital has thankfully ended very

early and he is back home and feeling much better on oral antibiotics. Hurray! As Don & Liz

continue their southwest ramblings, they are having a great time bird watching along the

New Mexico/Arizona border. Today they are East of Tucson and are identifying 8-10 new (to them)

species of birds a day and enjoying 80+ degree temps. If you are interested in more details of

their DaVanci adventures, please email Teresa (orneryt@comcast.net).

With spirits intact, Dick Beedle has returned to the local hospital where he will undergo six

weeks of antibiotic therapy to hopefully, annihilate  his persistent "residents." The goal is to continue the antibiotics until his wbc (white blood cell count) drops, revealing that his body is no longer fighting the bad bugs (and that the bugs are terminated). Please snd spirit lifters to help Dick during his hospital stay.  Carol Healy is staying with Dorothy during this time and Rick, of course, lives nearby.

From Kent Beedle on April 8, 2005:Charlotte Beedle got a great birthday

present today April 8th, the all clear to have both of her knees replaced on

Monday April 11 at Northwest Texas Regional Hospital in Amarillo. She will be in the hospital 3 to 4 days and then spend about 3 weeks in rehab. She got the all clear after results from a heart catheter showed it was safe for her to go ahead with the operation after an irregular heartbeat was found.

Hi Teresa,

The boys and I are doing fine. Garrett has started Little League and opening day is Apr 2. Both are doing well in school. I've reserved site # 41 for 3 nights. It seems there are only 2 or 3 sites available for reservation as of this morning. Looks to be a popular place. I like that there are a couple of lakes for swimming and messing about.

How are Curt and the girls doing? How do you like your new home? Isn't it nice being closer to all you do? I love being 10 min from the boys school and my work. Very convenient.

Love Kirk

From the Wide wild World of Sports.
Lindy Beedle is playing forward for the Trenton Titans Professional Ice Hockey Organization. The Titans play in the ECHL northern Division. Some of the teams in the League are the Miss. Seawolves, Alaska Aces, Peoria Rivermen, Idaho Steelheads, San Diego Gulls so they get around. To put things in perspecive: the ECHL feeds the AHL which feeds the NHL. Since the NHL isnt playing this year (Ah, unions, ya gotta love 'em) the ECHL is the only pro hockey game in town. The Titans play out of Soveriegn Bank Arena in the NJ state capital: a barn that seats about 6000, fan-a-vision, corporate sky boxes and its own mascot.
He's been on the team for the past 12 games. Right now they are on a road trip to Dayton Ohio. Lindy says the "show" is best thing to ever happen to him: the real deal. He can;t say how long he will be on board. There are only a couple weeks until playoffs but so far the organization wants to keep giving him a paycheck.
There was an interesting feature in the Trentonian a week ago about him that covered half the hockey section of the sports page headlined: "Beedle's come a long way after battle with cancer" written by Brian Compton on Tuesday March 8th (you can probably google all or parts of it to get to the article or I can fax a copy for anyone who wants one) it also appeared on the ECHL website on the 9th.
www.trentontitans.com
He's wearing #18. I'm hoping the Titans end up competing for their 'Cup' in Anchorage so I can get a real road trip in.

From David Healy on March 4th, 2005:  A note to the Richardsons.

Katy & Jim,

Here is proof that we met your son. What a nice young man!

We stopped by his dorm, packed him in our car (only 8 people and a 60
lb. dog) in a seven passenger station wagon and took him out for
dinner. It was great.

He might have felt it was some kind of initiation into the realm of
distant relatives. He handled it well.

On the "Home Page" I just added copies of several letters to Kirke L. Simpson from Eleanor Roosevelt, Franklin Roosevelt and Harry S. Truman, written about the time he retired from the Associated Press in 1945.  Kirke was a close friend of the Franklins and was a member of Franklin Roosevelt's "Cuff Link Club" that met regularly to place poker and talk.  The letters are interesting nuggets of family and national history.  Enjoy!!!

David, Sherry, Onwyn and Thatcher's visit continued with a visit to Vancouver, where we toured the sights and shared a very enjoyable dinner with George Richardson who is a freshman at the University of British Columbia.  After returning to Seattle, the David Healys, Carol Healy, Don Healy and Teresa, Jessie and Lauren Haldorson headed down to Portland to help Joyce Beedle celebrate her successful completion of her fiftieth year on this planet.  As usual, Joyce and Wes had their typically wonderful bash for fifty or so of their closest friends and relatives.  A great time was had by all; some even more than others.  Here's a few pictures:

Ten days ago ............ 2 weeks after the Doc said "Come see me in April", up jumped the devil in the form of our most un-favored nasty bug, munching merrily away on me. As of 1/24 have a PICC in my rt. upper arm and catherterred into my veina cava so's i can go to the fusion Center daily to get my IV drip of cubicin along with a free lunch(!)How'm I doin'? From Helen Beedle on January 23rd, 2005, in response to a question about Holly's wedding which we heard about via Carol Healy and Jane Hildebrand:

Hi Don,

The biggest detail is that we had this huge snowstorm right in time for the wedding!!  But it almost made it more beautiful.  She and Brad got married at 3:30 PM yesterday.  She did look like a model of course, and Chelsea, Samantha and Torie (Lindy's wife) were bridesmaids along with two more including Sandy's sister Linda.  I drove with Mom to the church wearing sweatpants and boots to wade through the snow.  I guess we got close to a foot, I"m really not sure.

But the reception was at this pretty country club here in Hellertown, called Silver Creek.  It was really pretty, and the snow made it seem like a winter wonderland!  Of course, there were people who cancelled because of the weather.   Aunt Jane & u Roger, of course.  It was so nice of them to want to come in the first place.  Mom was really excited about that.  But hopefully she'll be able to come out another time.  Mom missed Dad!   We all did.

We were dancing and enjoying ourselves until midnight, so it was pretty fun.  They couldn't leave for the their honeymoon, because most of the flights this morning were cancelled.  But they'll probably be able to go tomorrow.  I think they are going to Mexico somewhere.

Thanks so much for writing.  I have a huge box of stuff for you that weighs probably 25 pounds which I am going to send when I can.

I'm working on a show for myself at.....the Eureka Opera House in Nevada!  Doesn't that sound cool?  It is a pretty cool venue, from 1880, with a horseshoe balcony.  We'll see how it goes.  I heard about the place through a trade magazine I advertise in - they did a feature article on me.   The website of the opera house looks really interesting.  I'm playing at a restored opera house here on March 5 which is great, because I don't often play around here.  Jonathan has sung there a bunch of times.

Well --- there's some of the latest news.  It was good to hear from you!
Love,
Helen

Dear Don and Liz,

Here's one for you ... on Christmas morning ... and never having been
exposed to basketball much, if ever ... Grandson Will (aka Little Will)
walked out to the tree, picked up his new "kid sized" basketball and did a
perfect form jump shot for an undeniable "two points".  The three of us,
(myself, Jessica and Big Will) ... sat in stunned silence for a moment ...
and then cheered, looking at each other as if to say, "did you SEE that?".
I was lucky enough to react with the shutter and luckier still to have
captured it.

Enjoy ... and Happy Holidays to all

We are preparing for our Christmas-day trip to Vanessa and Lee's

As well as building my new computer, Mitch has put up new fall and

Mitch also added new photos to some of the archived months (plus if
you go to the album archive you get to see the view from Mickey's

I am off to go play mommy...

Don,

As always, thanks for all you do with the website.

Dad's staying "up beat" with all of this, as is Mom, and I think that we'll know a lot more once the holiday weekend is over and regular staffing in the labs resumes.

His leg is (finally) responding to the meds they're administering and, although we're still not exactly sure what the cause is, should have more answers today and, certainly, tomorrow.

There is a huge support group of friends for them here at Caliente and, really, the biggest job has been to keep them at bay and away from the hospital so that he could get the rest needed to fight off whatever this malaise might be. (Everybody should have such a dilemma, eh?)

That's it for now, and, thanks again

Rick

.....and the hits just keep on coming.  do you suppose we are just
getting to that age in our lives????  i don't know if you have been in
touch with dad over the past week, but our t-giving plans went up in the
air when marty flunked his treadmill test on monday the 15th, the nuclear
perfusion test didn't look too good on tuesday, and he asked me to take
him to the emergency room on wed a.m.  he was in kaiser sro for 2 nights,
then transferred to kaiser sfo on fri for a cardiac catheterization.
fortunately, he qualified for plan a (insert 3 stents and go home on sat
a.m.) instead of plan b which would have been a bypass surgery on monday
the 22nd with 5 or more days in the hospital.  marty seems to be heading
for a full recovery.  he meets with his cardiologist on mon for a
follow-up visit.  i suspect we will have a better idea of the "new
normal" for this house after that.  needless to say, this branch of the
family tree has much to be thankful for this week.
hope all is well with you and yours.
love to all,
cj

Joyce called Carol to let her know that Dick Beedle (Joyce's father and Carol's brother) was hospitalized at the Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, California.  Since May, Dick has been troubled several times with a re-occurring pain in his leg accompanied with flu-like symptoms.  On Monday, November 22nd, Dick checked into the emergency room to check out the latest bout.  After some tests, Dick was checked into the Center and has been undergoing numerous tests to determine what the unknown infection might be.   I talked to Dick this evening and he is in great spirits.  The current estimate is that he will be allowed to return home on Monday the 29th.  Rick is currently home and is assisting greatly.

Friday, the kids had the day off so I ripped Sherry away from her lucrative blogging career and took the family to the diRosa Preserve.

The Preserve is about half way between Sears Point Raceway and the city of Napa. It is a beautiful piece of land surrounded by wineries.

The diRosa Preserve is an art museum with well over 2000 pieces of fine art produced primarily by local artists. Two of our friends; Tony Ligamari and Ann Veraldi had pieces in the collection. Richard Shaw also had some pieces there. He was one of Sherry’s teachers when she went to the Art Institute.

Hi everyone!

Well, it's been a whole year since our reunion in Nags Head, North Carolina. Mom wanted me to pass on her greetings and love to everyone. She (well, all of us really) thinks about that wonderful week often. It truly was a once in a lifetime experience.

As for us Pennsylvania Beedles... it looks like you just can't keep us away from the Outer Banks. Tomorrow, all of us begin a one week stay in Nags Head. It was a place Dad loved so much, so, we will go and celebrate him, and the love he had for the Outer Banks and for his family. We'll think of him, and all of you, and marvel at the wonderful family that we all belong to.

For the past few months I have been going through the video that I shot last year, thinking that I would put together an edited retrospective for the family. Well, I finished it last night. It's around 40 minutes long, and it's a great look back at a special time. If anyone would like a copy on DVD, please let me know. (Sorry, in this technologically advanced age, it's too difficult to make a VHS!!!)

In the meantime, for those of you with a fast connection and the Quicktime plug-in for your browser, I've put a short 4-minute excerpt up on my .mac website. (A fast connection is key, here. The file's around 32 MB.) Just go here to view the excerpt:

http://homepage.mac.com/dbeedle/NagsHead/iMovieTheater34.html

I'll be wonderfully technology free for the next week, and then I'll check in with some photos, I'm sure.

I miss all my west coast family!

David

Johanna Klein is currently in Manila, Philippines, working on her doctorate and has created a website, www.johannaklein.com, so her friends and family can be updated on her activities there.  It is well worth viewing.  Also Johanna indicated that the family will have a new addition in the near future.  She mentioned that Vanessa and Lee Hoffer are expecting.  Since this information came in such a round-about fashion, from Manila to Seattle to you, I suppose we could paraphrase Shakespeare and say, "Oh what circuitous lines we weave, when we endeavor to conceive."  (But I would never say that)

We spent last week on the Oregon Coast enjoying the beach, salt air, Cedar Waxwings, bluebirds and great state parks at Nehalem Bay, near Manzanita, and South Beach, just south of Newport, Oregon.  On the way back we had a nice visit with Page Douglas and then headed over to Wes and Joyce's place to participate in the festivities and lend a hand where possible, in the celebration of Wes's 51st birthday.  It was wonderful to be there and share the event with 60 to 70 of Joyce and Wes's close friends and relatives.  The party started about 3:00 PM and ended about midnight, with volleyball, visiting, storytelling around the outdoor fire, games and a fantastic variety of culinary delights throughout.

The Bash is actually Saturday, but we have out of towners usually attending, and they drift in on the Friday and mozy on whenever during the following week. So suit yourself as far as the duration goes and just know that the overnighters and early arrivers are part of our getting ready and getting cleaned up crew.

From Kirk Beedle on May 16th, 2004:

Hi Don, I stumbled onto this and thought it might 'fit ' in somewhere

scroll down to KFAS to find out a bit about Hadley Beedle

Also, this:

the following is regarding John Harrah's aquisition of the Hadley Beedle ranch in the Reno area

John has acquired one other unit of the original Gentlemen's Ranch: the Beedle property. The Beedle House lies to the west of the Crummer House. Biltz sold it to a Mr. Tamka in 1939, who sold it to William Frazer in 1943, who promptly turned around and sold it to Morse Little three months later. Little held on to the property for three years, selling it to Hadley S. Beedle in 1946. Like Bill Harrah and Ernie Primm, Mr. Beedle lived on his piece of the Gentlemen's Ranch for the remainder of his life. At Hadley's death in 1989 the Beedle clan consisted of his widow Mildred and their children: Hadley B. and Mary, plus two of Mildred's from a previous marriage, Stephen Hanks and Susan Thresher, and twelve grandchildren. The Beedles raised Arabian horses, contributing, in a way, to the equestrian tradition of Rancharrah. Daughter Mary, a retired school teacher at the time of this writing, similarly raised show dogs.

Hadley S. Beedle, though well to do, was certainly not in the "champagne dreams and caviar wishes" class of his more famous neighbors. He was the owner and chief executive of several automobile supply companies, including Reno Motor Supply, which he co-founded with his father in 1923, and the Susanville Motor Supply Co. Hadley was born in Angel's Camp, California, September 2, 1899, and graduated from Reno High in 1917. He was one of Nevada's original airmail pilots in the 1920s and an avid ham radio operator throughout his life. As well as a member of the Chamber of Commerce he had been a charter member of the Nevada White Hats, and a member of the Airmail Pilots Association, the International Arabian Horse Association, the Comstock Arabian Association, and had served as the grand master and installing officer of Reno Council No. 4. He and Norman Biltz were both listed in the 1949 edition of Who's Who In Nevada. Typical of the press-shy Biltz, his listing was but four lines line long, while Mr. Beedle's took up half a column. After Hadley Beedle's death his estate sold the property to John Harrah in 1992.

I believe Hadley was Pop's cousin. I recall dad talking about Hadley when dad spent time in Nevada City in his youth and I think Dad contacted Hadley a time or two when in Reno. I also found where Hadley was one of the original US MAIL pilots in the early 20's for several years in that area.

All is going nicely around here. Garrett is about done with T-ball, swim lessons for both are in July and Alec starts soccer in Aug. We've started taking the boat out and we're looking forward to a fun summer with it.

I am glad you folks had a wonderful journey.

Kirk

Josh and Matt (my 2 sons) will get started cleaning and painting the house
Charlotte and I will move into. When I get down there I will have cabinets to
build in the kitchen since the last people stole the ones in there and
hopefully we will be in our new home by mid-July.

After May 24th, my phone number will be my cell phone only (775) 635-3738. We

From Kirk Beedle on April 15th, 2004:

While Don and Liz were traveling about this wonderful land of ours, Eleanor and I ventured to our neighbor south for a 7 night Mexican Riveria cruise. The boys auntie Jeanie ventured from her island residence in the Puget Sound to stay with Garrett and Alec. Jeanie was in heaven to be able to spend so much time with her nephews!

The cruise went out of Long Beach and we were at sea for the first two days. The third day we made port at Puerto Vallarta. We took a 'shore excursion' by catamaran to the former getaway of director John Huston for the day. We enjoyed sunning on the beach, wandered up the hill to an open cabana for massages before enjoying a wonderful lunch then returning to PV. We then ventured in town for a bit of shopping and dining before returning to the ship. A newer vessel the Carnival Pride is 960 ft in length and displaces 89,000 tons. It carries 2100 passengers a crew of 900 and has a top speed of 24 knots. The second stop was Mazatlan. We took a tour bus into the Sierra Madre to the 16th century town of Copala. Along the way we stopped at a factory where furniture is made and enjoyed seeing how things are done without the latest and greatest state-of-the-art equipment. We had the interesting experience of having our tour bus stopped by the Federales along the way. We were not boarded, but the driver got off and on a couple of times with much gathering of papers and such before we were allowed to proceed. The tour guide was firm that we stay in our seats and please be quiet. Copala is an interesting town. Built in 1560 it still has the narrow cobbled streets that have remained unchanged. An American fellow by the name of Butter had a large gold mining operation in the mid 1800's. We had lunch at a restaurant operating in his old hacienda. We then wandered around the village plaza watching kids with mules try to sell a mule ride for 10 pesos (a dollar). There is an old church at one end of the plaza and Butter's hacienda on the other. The bus brought us back into Mazatlan for a bit of shopping before returning us to the ship. The last stop was Cabo San Lucas. What a difference from PV and Mazatlan. Cabo sits at the end of the Baja pennisula and is a drier climate than the other two cities. We had decided not to take any 'shore excursions' at this stop, but to enjoy wandering around town shopping, indulging good food and fun beverages (fruity umbrellla drinks, yum!). It was a wonderful day. We had one day at sea on the return leg and it was a bit rough. The seas were running 5 to 8 ft for most of the return trip. I had booked our stateroom on the lowest passenger deck, admidship, for this very reason. We had a lovely large window to view from and watched the waves and whitecaps and we plowed north. When we were up on the Lido Deck (deck 10) at the dining buffet, we really felt the movement of the ship.

Upon returning home we were greeted by two very happy little boys and their auntie Jeanie. They had had a wonderful time while we were gone. I think the time they spend with their auntie is so valuable and as the boys get older they will truly appreciate times like these.

As to cruising..................what a way to travel! Where else is one able to enter into ones stateroom and find towel art on a nightly basis.

We're now in Fairfield, Iowa, having a great visit with Kit and Melinda.  We had a wonderful time with Jane and Roger.  Jane showed us the Oriental Institute Museum, the University of Chicago, and many of the local sites.  We greatly enjoyed the two extensive, independent bookstores in their neighborhood.  Between Chicago and Fairfield we detoured to visit the "Healy Cemetery" near Moscow, Iowa, and found the gravestones for more deceased Healy than we could ever imagine; now to sort out who's who.  We also found the building that once housed the general store owned by Abiel Healy in Wilton, Iowa. It's currently being converted into an apartment building.

Still wandering.  We left the New Orleans area yesterday morning (the 21st), after a wonderful visit with Craig, Linda and Briana Joseph.  They showed us the sights around the New Orleans area; the French Quarter, the swamps, the D-Day Museum and some excellent restaurants, and Linda and Liz had a great time catching up.   (They had taught together in Everett for many years.)  We even watched Briana play soccer; very impressive!!

Yesterday we visited Ashley Plantation and toured St. Francisville, LA.  Today we visited Rosedown Plantation and the beautiful Afton Villa Gardens.  Here's a few photos from the last several days:

On the 11th, we departed Seattle for a 6-week to 2-month wander around the U.S., visiting numerous family and friends enroute.  We will be updating the Leonardo de"Van"ci Log as we proceed.  Thus far we have visited Page Douglas and David and Sherry Healy.  In Orland, Nevada City and Sacramento, we have uncovered additional bits of family history including a copy of C. W. Beedle and Mary E. Holmes marriage license, a copy of Mary (Holmes) Beedle's will, a picture of C.W. Beedle's home in Gold Flat, California, pictures of the house in Orland in which Lynn Beedle was born, and a second house in Orland where Carol Healy and Gin Douglas were born, as well as pictures inside and out of the home at 1616 "H" Avenue in Sacramento where Lynn C. Simpson lived during a period of time and in which Carol Simpson and Granville Beedle were married.  Most enjoyable and quite successful so far.

From Geri Masters on December 26th, 2003:  Can you help?

Don;

I have the old photo's from Willetta Laymance, daughter of Minnie Will Beedle Laymance, old album.  Minnie was daughter of Katie Jones Beedle Hatch.

I have a photo of Granville L. Beedle of 1913, that was in the album. It is the same as one on the bdhhfamily site.

None of the photo's in this album are dated or have names.

This photo I've included here, was in the same area of the album. I hope  you or a Beedle relative, hopefully an older person, can identify the people in this photo.

The older lady looks like Mary Holmes Beedle to me. Willetta might be in it, not sure. I wonder who the man is.

Love Geri Masters

Let's see if the younger generations can figure out whose pictures these are.

Don....

Thanks for that quote (see below) -- and the reminder of that wonderful time in Nags Head.

True to what they said while there, Dick and Dorothy appeared in
Hellertown, much to our great delight. They arrived on Wednesday and
since then we've just talked and talked.

They left this afternoon for Stroudesburg, PA -- just a short distance
away to drop in on a couple who also live in Desert Hot Springs. Then
they go on west -- and goodness knows what their route will be!

But before that we joined up with Rick in Allentown where he had just
brought a group from Connecticut and New York. What a wonderful
two-hour-plus gabfest.

Ah, life is beautiful.

Lynn
